Wasdale Triathlon

At the moment I am giving a lot of thought to preparing for the Wasdale Tri, one of a few races that claim to be the hardest Middle Distance Tri in the world. I don't suppose it is but it is certainly up there with the hardest.
The bike route goes over Hardknott and Wrynose passes, in both directions and the run is up and down Scafell and Scafell Pike.
The rules require you to carry extra kit and I've had to buy new trail/fell shoes, a new 30t sprocket and rear mech.
I've yet to decide on what to wear but I think that will depend a lot on the weather on the day. I'll post later about my final kit decisions.

What's it all about?

What's this blog about? It's about my experiences as a chump (my son's term) tri-athlete. I don't expect ever to be winning a race but that's not really the point. I did my first triathlon in Skipton last year as a challenge, what I did not expect was to have so much fun. So this blog is about having fun, staying fit and buying kit.
This is my second season racing and so far this year I have done the Paris Marathon, Eton Dorney Garmin Sprint Triathlon, Boskman Long Distance Triathlon, Zurich Ironman and the Rubicon Middle distance at Newby Hall. I have a couple more races left this season but more about in a larer post.
