Cervelo P3

My main race bike is a 2014 Cervelo P3. Originally it came with 3T wheels and Ultegra 6800 11 speed groupset. I have added Zipp 808 tubular wheels and upgraded the groupset to DI2 electric gears..

Upgrading to DI2 was a fun project and hopefully I will never dump my chain again. When asked why I upgraded, I was at a bit of a loss to give a reasonable answer. the main reason was to do with boys and toys. However now I have done it, it quickly became obvious that the real reason was the ability to add shifters to the pursuit bars.

It turns out that this is not an easy thing to do as the bike is equipped with Magura hydraulic brakes which are incompatible with Shimano levers. The choices are forget it, get rid of the brakes and replace them with mechanical caliper brakes or bodge some buttons on to the Magura levers.  I am going to bodge. It will take some thinking about though because the bars only have routing for one cable and there isn't enough room to thread the both cables down the existing duct.

Edit. Bodge is done and it works great. It took some doing but I managed to get the DI2 leads down the brake duct. We had to dig the circuit board out of a pair of shifters and disconnect the leads from the boards then solder on a pair of leads from the new shifter buttons before fitting to the bike and resoldering the leads.
